CADET - First Year - ALTERNATES
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ALL APPLICANTS
Auto-slotting is done in late February or early March. You will get an email from NHQ to let you know your status.
Everyone Starts as an Alternate
Being listed as an Alternate simply means your application has been received.
It does not mean you have been passed over.
National Headquarters conducts auto‑slotting in late February or early March, and you will receive an email from NHQ with your official status once that process is complete.
ACTION REQUIRED
Supplemental Information Form
You must complete the Alternate/Shortlist Form in Registration Zone to indicate whether you still want to be considered for a Primary Slot as openings occur.
-
Your timestamp on this form, along with other criteria, will be used later to determine your position on the Short List.
-
If you do not want to remain an Alternate, please cancel your registration. This prevents you from receiving unnecessary Alternate emails.
DROPS HAPPEN
Primary cadets will withdraw from the activity.
When that happens, staff will fill the vacancy from the Short List.
Be diligent about checking your email so you don’t miss a status update.
THE SHORTLIST
The Short List is made up of Alternates who:
-
Have completed all required qualifications
-
Have submitted the Supplemental Information Form
-
(If applicable) Were on last year’s Short List and re‑applied this year
National’s business rules apply—preference and slotting score remain key factors.
QUALIFICATIONS
All required qualifications must be fully completed to be considered for selection.
-
Completing them as soon as possible moves you onto the Short List sooner.
-
Timestamps are used to break ties between cadets who finish around the same time.
